{"id":3452,"date":"2018-11-18T14:40:28","date_gmt":"2018-11-18T19:40:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.letterofcredit.biz\/?p=3452"},"modified":"2019-04-06T06:16:49","modified_gmt":"2019-04-06T10:16:49","slug":"what-does-duplicate-triplicate-mean-in-a-letter-of-credit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.letterofcredit.biz\/index.php\/2018\/11\/18\/what-does-duplicate-triplicate-mean-in-a-letter-of-credit\/","title":{"rendered":"What Does Duplicate, Triplicate Mean in a Letter of Credit?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Letters of credit have a special jargon.<\/p>\n<p>If you are not familiar with the L\/C language, you may not be able to understand what letter of credit is telling to you.<\/p>\n<p>Issuing banks frequently state quantities of required document not explicitly, but with a special letter of credit jargon.<\/p>\n<p>On this port you can find the meaning of one of the most frequently used L\/C terms in regards to multiple documents.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Sample Texts:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Packing list in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">triplicate<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Beneficiary&#8217;s signed commercial invoice{s) in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">triplicate<\/span>, original of which must be certified by the chamber of commerce.<\/li>\n<li>Certificate of origin in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">duplicate<\/span> evidencing country of goods origin.<\/li>\n<li>Beneficiary&#8217;s manually signed commercial invoice in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">quintuplicate<\/span> certified by the chamber of commerce and\/or industry or equivalent authority of the exporting \/ beneficiary country.<\/li>\n<li>Signed and stamped with company&#8217;s seal commercial invoice in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">quadruplicate<\/span> mentioning: a. name and address of the manufacturers\/producers, b. relevant harmonized commodity code number(s) applicable to the products shipped under this credit, and certifying that: c. country of origin, d. all cartons and each items are marked with the words made in e. country of origin is printed\/stitched on each item.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Letter of Credit Rules:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If a credit requires presentation of multiple documents by using terms such as &#8220;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">in duplicate<\/span>&#8220;, &#8220;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">in two fold<\/span>&#8221; or &#8220;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">in two copies<\/span>&#8220;, this will be satisfied by the presentation of at least one original and the remaining number in copies, except when the document itself indicates otherwise.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3464 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.letterofcredit.biz\/wp-content\/uploads\/multipledocuments.png\" alt=\"definitions of multiple documents\" width=\"600\" height=\"299\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.letterofcredit.biz\/wp-content\/uploads\/multipledocuments.png 600w, https:\/\/www.letterofcredit.biz\/wp-content\/uploads\/multipledocuments-300x150.png 300w, https:\/\/www.letterofcredit.biz\/wp-content\/uploads\/multipledocuments-324x160.png 324w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Explanations:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;Packing list in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">triplicate<\/span>&#8221; means that beneficiary could present 3 originals of packing lists or at least one original packing list and remaining with copies.<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Certificate of origin in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">duplicate<\/span> evidencing country of goods origin&#8221; means that beneficiary could present 2 originals of certificates of origin or one original and one copy of certificates of origin.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Letters of credit have a special jargon.
